Smartdriverclub Secures Double Win
Insurance Times Tech and Innovation Awards 2107
As proof of the power of telematics to give motorists protection that goes well beyond insurance alone, Smartdriverclub has claimed not one but two awards in recognition for its game-changing services in the prestigious Insurance Times Tech and Innovation Awards 2017. At a ceremony attended by the great and the good of the insurance world at the Royal Garden Hotel in London on 14th September, Smartdriverclub, won the highly coveted awards for Insurance Start Up of the Year and Best Use of Technology for Customer Experience.
Penny Searles, CEO said: “These award mean a great deal to all of us who have worked so hard to bring Smartdriverclub to life over the past couple of years. The competition for this award was fierce but in the motor insurance space we are delivering a service that really challenges the traditional model. The judges evidently recognise how we have taken telematics to the masses through the simplicity of installation and enabled motorists to benefit from an array of safety and cost-saving services.
“Only this week, insurers have been urged to offer more to customers in the form of a range of connected services, to fight commodification and build loyalty. That is exactly what we have done and we are now seeing the fruits of our labour and our customers are reaping the benefits of connectivity.”
One such customer is Derek Moore whose car was stolen from his drive in July and was recovered within 3 hours thanks to the tracking capabilities of the Smartdriverclub Smartplug device.
Derek Moore said: “When I arranged my insurance cover with Smartdriverclub, the additional benefits were a real attraction but I didn’t for a moment think that they would be put to use so soon. This has been the first time I have taken out a telematics based policy. There aren’t many insurers who provide services to protect your safety and your car in the way Smartdriverclub can and I am delighted I made the smart decision to get my car connected and protected.”
Penny Searles concludes: “It is all the more gratifying to know we shared the glory of being a winner with the pioneer of telematics insurance for young drivers, Insure The Box. This has been a long road for those of us who started out with the belief in telematics insurance 8 or so years ago and now all the hard word and passion about usage based insurance is being vindicated.”
